Active Park 2007 - A Great Success

Thank you to all those people who gave their time and energy to make Active Park 2007 such a great afternoon. The rain couldn't stop our enthusiasm and the event was really well attended.

There were some great craft activities from St.Chad's Church and Macclesfield Rangers, lots of local information handed out by Friends of Meriton Road Park group, Friends of Handforth Station, Salford Cycling Projects and Healthy Eating information from Central and Eastern Cheshire P.C.T.

The children had lots of fun getting active with Adam Young-youth community coach, Wilmslow Lacrosse Club, Fun obstacle races with Macclesfield Rangers and fantastic cycling experiences using the specially designed access for all bikes from Salford Cycling Projects.

Our thanks go to St. John Ambulance and the Community Action Team police for letting everyone learn about their valuable work in a fun way.

Thanks go to our Mayor and Mayoress for attending the event and for being such a help to our group during all our previous work.

Thank you to all the donations we received which helped to make the event a success - Tesco, Lidl, Shentons Farm Shop, Handforth in Bloom, The Cheshire Building Society, Barclays Bank and all the members of the Friends of the Park group who donated things for our recent fundraising car boot sale.

Former Judo club in Meriton Park

Hello Everyone,

My wife and I have been living in Handforth for almost 3 years now, and we are starting to get to know more and more about what this town has to offer, and what we might offer in return.

Whilst chatting to our neighbours recently, it transpired that the pavillion in Handforth park use to host a Judo club, but that this folded some years ago. Both my wife and I are instructors at the Keele University Jiu-Jitsu club, and we are keen to establish a training venue closer to home.

Can anyone with any information on this topic please contact us contact us to discuss how the pavillion and / or any equipment left inside it, might be used in a new martial arts venture.
